Thank Goodness Its Fall!

Fall is my favorite season! I love eating comfort foods, soups and stews, and warm buttery rolls and biscuits. But man cannot live on bread and dumplings alone. Here in the northwest (Idaho) it is a bit more difficult to get super fresh fruits and veggies like cucumbers and broccoli. Yes, we do have large produce sections at the grocery store...but sadly, some of my favorites show up sort of droopy and wilty-looking.

With that in mind, in fall and winter, I have to improvise a little more and get creative about how I prepare and serve fruits and vegetables. Here are just a few recipes to get you started serving fruit and vegetables that are appetizing and creative!

Cucumber Salad

Pasta and Garlic Roasted Broccoli

Rigatoni with Fresh Tomatoes

Banana Buttermilk Cake

Apple Crisp

A Football Feast For The Tailgate

Being close to a state university, we get some spirited football fans and tailgating going on every weekend during the fall college football season - and we love it! Tailgating is one of the highly versatile activities that can be enjoyed by die-hard fans and casual cheer sections alike.

I am always on the look out for a new recipe that can convert to a tailgating touchdown when it comes to good eats. Here is where I give a shameless shout out to Bronco Nation, BSU Broncos and my alma mater!

I am sharing a few of my favorite tailgate touchdown recipes with you, just to get you started on your tailgating adventure!

Mulling It Fall Over

I admit it. I am anxious for fall. It's probably my favorite season by far. I enjoy the blossoms in spring, swimming weather in summer and cozy fires in winter. But there is something about fall that is the perfect blend of apple cider, pumpkins, scarves and hay rides.

I love school carnivals in fall, harvest parties, carving pumpkins and corn mazes. But most of all, I delight in being able to start making some of those heavier dinner and desserts such as chili, potato soup in a bread bowl and carmel apples - you know, the dishes that are just too hot for summer? Anyway...

With that in mind, please indulge me as I share some of my favorite fall recipes:

Batter Fried Apples

Beef Stew

Peach Cobbler

Chili

7-Up Apple Dumplings
